About

I am a performance artist and theatre maker interested in exploring the fragility of the human condition with subversive humour and delicacy to make work that is urgent, relevant and passionate. I draw mostly from personal stories to make work that has universal resonance.

As a solo artist I have toured work nationally and internationally to critical acclaim since 2002.  The work reflects whatever interests me at the moment and the form evolves to support the motives and intention of the work.  While I’m interested in using technology as a creative language, I also perform in empty stages, play in and out of light, experiment with presence and absence.  I collaborate with the same designers I have worked with for 5 years, committed to our ongoing dialogue.

In 1997 I studied Small Companies and Community Theatre at Swinburne University before focusing my studies in Acting at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1999.  I have trained in the physical language of Etienne Decroux and Embodiment with Leisa Shelton, and in 2008 completed a Postgrad Diploma in Performance Creation at the VCA.

I recently returned from a solo residency in Berlin where I developed At the Sans Hotel and performed in NAH DRAN.  Dedicated to making my own work and refining my mode of expression through performance, writing, photography and self operated technology, I am presently a solo resident at Victoria University of Technology in Melbourne.
